Minute Rice Review

All the Minute Rice instant rices' are grown in the USA. Minute Rice has been around for 60 years! The rice came about the same time as the first color television set and the hula hoop! Quite interesting, seriously! In the 1950's they came out with a product that their rice would be ready in 5 minutes. In the 1960's they came out with: Brown, Spanish, Cheddar-Romano, Seashore and Southern rice products! More flavors came out in the 1970's including my favorite Garden Medley. In the 1980's they let marketers test out 7oz and 14oz products. Brown Rice came out in the 1990's. In the 2000's the Ready to Serve rice came about, and in 2009 they celebrated their 60th anniversary!

I was sent the newest flavor in the Minute Instant Rice Product line: Multi-Grain Medley. This rice is a blend of 4 gluten free 100% whole grains. This is ready in only 10 minutes! The four grains that this includes are:
Brown Rice

Thai Red Rice

Wild Rice

and Quinoa

It's really easy to cook. Instructions: 1. COMBINE water and contents of one bag in a 2-quart microwave-safe dish and stir. Add oil if desired. Cover. MICROWAVE on HIGH for 10 minutes or until water is absorbed. If you are preparing 1 bag (about 2 servings), microwave for 10 minutes. For two bags (about 4 servings), microwave for 12 minutes. REMOVE from microwave. Fluff with fork.(taken from the website of minute rice).

Take a look at the nutrition facts. 4 grams of protein, 2 grams of fiber, and 15 mg of sodium. On a low GI diet, this makes for a perfect side to a meal.

Check out the Minute Rice website. There are so many useful links. You can find recipes, Information on how to live better, take a look at all their products, or find out about special offers.

Above is a meal I cooked for my boyfriend. Beef with veggies and rice. We'll be cooking some more of the rice tomorrow night!
